Seaside, Florida As Viewed From My Cellphone
In March 2011, my Spring Break journey led me back to Destin, Florida, but I didn't leave the area without taking a sunny drive on South Walton County's scenic highway 30A. Twisting through Northwest Florida's terrain, Highway 30A led me past Blue Mountain, Dune Allen, Grayton Beach, Watercolor, and finally through Seaside, Florida. Built in the 1980's, Seaside is a dream community that boasts the simple lifestyle that is rarely seen in a beach community. Its unique architecture gives the idea of New Urbanism. You'll recognize streets such as Natchez and Tupelo Street. Cottages that resembles the antebellum south. A New Orleans style corridor also welcomes a french twist. Here are a few photos that I took with my cellphone while visiting Seaside, Florida for the second year in a row.

An evening drive through Seaside reveals the architectural structures that line the highway. A school crossing ahead leads to the Seaside Neighborhood School.

Although there are many owners with property in Seaside, there are only a few who actually live there. Seaside is well known for tourism and becoming more popular every year.

Taking an afternoon stroll in the central park can be pleasant. Artists, consignment shops, and homes line the outside of the park area.

The Seaside Post Office is the icon of the town. It was one of the first buildings in Seaside and still stands majestically today. The wood architecture makes it one of the most unique United States Post Office facilities in the state and region. This closeup photo was converted to black & white.

Bud & Alley's Restaurant
Bud and Alley's Restaurant, at 2236 East Highway 30A, was my lunch destination. This was my view for the afternoon. I spoke with some other guests visiting from Pennsylvania for the first time. The lunch was an awesome fish sandwich, chips, pickle, and drink for a lustrious $17.60 total. The server, Jessica, was very nice, though.

Santa Rosa Beach in Seaside, FL
What would you give to be here at this very moment to watch the sun go down over the pristine beaches of Northwest Florida's Gulf Coast? As you can see, many had the exact opportunity and it's a feeling that everyone should experience. Seeing the sun rays of light gleam onto the emerald waters creates an amazing scene. This photo actually does not provide justice.

My final photo, captured by the cellphone, is twilight on the beach. Kids are playing and reminiscing the final hour before the sunny skies turn dark.
An experience in Seaside, Florida is like no other. Although I have not actually rented an establishment in Seaside as of yet, just traveling there and spending a day in the area is worth the trip. From Mr. Modica's store (passed away since my first trip), the Central Square Records music shop and book store, seeing the Seaside Neighborhood School, Ice Cream shop and the restaurants that shower the small community, you'll enjoy the the taste of southern beach comfort.
